Images for individual puzzles

I've noticed how we need to get images for each of the puzzles, and I've found some high quality ones on Fandom. I am very new to wiki editing, and I'm just wondering what are the rules as to using images from other websites (where you can or can't get them from). Does anyone have any answers for me? --Logangsta (talk) 07:55, 18 May 2024 (UTC)

I recommend you read Help:Files if you want a good grasp on how the image policy for this wiki works, but to answer what you specifically asked for: Going off of the linked page's "Sourcing" section, screenshots are only allowed if the uploader was the one who captured it or they are official screenshots from Nintendo; the fifth bullet point even outright emphasizes not to take screenshots from other wikis.
I don't know where you got the Puzzle Swap images from specifically, but assuming it's Nintendo Wiki on Fandom, almost all of them appear to be sprite rips of the preview images because A) the preview images aren't always accurate to what is seen in the animated puzzle (e.g. there is no point in the animated Kirby: Triple Deluxe puzzle that resembles the preview image); and B) if they were screenshots of the preview images, they would've had a square grid pattern if you looked closely, which the Fandom images lack.
Since the "no third-party sources" rule only applies to screenshots, I believe uploading some sprite rips from Fandom should be fine (though something like the Spriters Resource would be a more ideal source). The Jacketed Terrapin (talk) 13:58, 18 May 2024 (UTC)
