The Nintendo Switch is a hybrid video game console released in March 2017. It is the successor to both the Wii U and the Nintendo 3DS family of handhelds. As a hybrid video game console, the Nintendo Switch is designed to be played both on the go and at home when docked to a TV or monitor using the included dock. During development, the Nintendo Switch was known as the Nintendo NX.

The system's primary main controller are the JoyCon which can be attached or detached from the system. The JoyCons each feature one analog stick along with either a + or - button and four face buttons all arranged in the same layout as the SNES controller. When held sideways and with the JoyCon wrist strap attached, the JoyCon will resemble a smaller SNES controller. Additionally, the JoyCon feature motion controls similarly to the Wii Remote and Wii Remote Plus. The Switch's secondary controller is the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller which is geared towards professional players and has a layout similar to the Nintendo GameCube Controller and the Xbox controllers.
