The Nintendo 3DS is a family of handheld consoles made by Nintendo. It is the successor to the Nintendo DS family of handhelds which succeeded the Game Boy line and brand for Nintendo as well as being the handheld counterpart to the Wii. The 3DS gets its name from the stereoscopic 3D feature it provides which is present on the original 3DS, Nintendo 3DS XL, New Nintendo 3DS, and New Nintendo 3DS XL which the Nintendo 2DS and New Nintendo 2DS XL lack. It is also the first Nintendo portable system to feature and support Miis as a system feature.
