The Nintendo 3DS is a family of handheld consoles made by Nintendo. It is the successor to the Nintendo DS family of handhelds which succeeded the Game Boy line and brand for Nintendo as well as being the handheld counterpart to the Wii. The 3DS gets its name from the stereoscopic 3D feature it provides which is present on the original 3DS, Nintendo 3DS XL, New Nintendo 3DS, and New Nintendo 3DS XL. The Nintendo 2DS and New Nintendo 2DS XL lack this feature, but can still use all 3DS features that do not use 3D. It is the first Nintendo portable system to feature and support Miis as a system feature. Several Nintendo 3DS games can make use of Miis such as Mario Kart 7, Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, Mario Tennis Open, Tomodachi Life, and Miitopia. Miis can be created on the 3DS using the Mii Maker app, which is the 3DS equivalent to the Mii Channel on the Wii.
