Wuhu Island, originally known as the Wii Fit Island, is a location which first appeared in Wii Fit, and has since been featured in several Nintendo games. Most of the games it appears in are Mii-focused, but all at least have Miis playable. Its most notable appearance is as the setting of Wii Sports Resort.

Appearances

Wii series

Wuhu Island appears in Wii Sports Resort, Wii Fit Plus, and Wii Fit U. In Wii Sports Resort, everything takes place on Wuhu Island with the exception of Golf, which takes place on Wedge Island (although Wuhu Island can be seen in the background of the Resort Holes). In Wii Fit Plus, Wii Fit Island has been replaced with Wuhu Island, and all games taking place on the former now take place on the latter. In addition, 4 [needs verification] of the new games added take place on Wuhu Island.

Pilotwings Resort

Pilotwings Resort takes place on Wuhu Island and Wedge Island, with all activities taking place on one of the two.

Mario Kart series

In Mario Kart 7, Wuhu Island appears as the setting of the Wuhu Loop and Maka Wuhu courses, and the Wuhu Town battle stage.

The Wuhu Town stage reappears in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, where the island has been redesigned in a way that fits the game's depiction of the Mario universe. Whereas Mario Kart 7 featured a generic Battle Mode theme for all of its stages, Wuhu Town now has an arrangement of the Wii Sports Resort main theme, as the two race courses previously did.

Super Smash Bros. series

Two stages featuring Wuhu Island (Wuhu Island and Pilotwings) were introduced in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, both returning in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Trivia

  • In the running activities of the Wii Fit series, 15 sprites from Super Mario Bros. are hidden on surfaces around the island.
  • In Wii Fit U, the island will change to match the seasons depending on the date. From December to February the island will be snowy, from March to May the island will be a bright green, from June to August the island will be a calmer green, and from September to November the trees will have orange leaves, the grass will be orange, and leaves will be falling from trees.
