Dreams are a feature of the Tomodachi series that can occur when a Mii is sleeping. Sleeping Miis that are currently dreaming will have a thought bubble above their heads containing the kanji 夢 (yume, literally meaning dream) in the Japanese version, or a yellow crescent moon with a blue background in Western versions. Tapping this bubble will let the player view the dream. Dreams are randomly picked from a list, and some have interactive elements; many have further variations that nevertheless count as the same kind of dream. Once the dream is over, either by letting it reach its conclusion if it has one or by tapping the back button, the dreaming Mii will wake up and the player will receive an item related to the dream (in Collection, an item is not received if the Mii was napping). Dreaming Miis that were napping will stay awake, while Miis that were sleeping for the night will only be awake for a moment before going back to sleep.

Specific dreams can be directly invoked through the Hypnotizer item, though only dreams that the player has viewed before on the current save file can be watched through this method. To use it, the player must give the item to a currently awake Mii and put them to sleep by swinging the pendulum back and forth using the touch screen or by tilting the system. The player can also spin the pendulum in a circle, causing the Mii to get dizzy. Once the Mii has passed out, the player can select from a collection of previoulsy viewed dreams which one they want to see. The selection appears as bubbles containing the subjects of the dreams in Collection and a list of dreams by name in Life. The player will not receive an item from dreams viewed this way.

The leader introduces the team as the Mii Rangers, and they all pose together before an explosion causes them all to scatter and fall into the background. Occupied		The dreamer rushes into a bathroom, but is met with an endless line of occupied stalls. Each stall door can be knocked on with the stylus, producing a comment from the person inside that the stall is in use.	Toilet paper
Bungee Jump		The dreaming Mii stands at a bungee jump platform over a large city, with another Mii behind them. Occasionally, the dreamer hesitates and asks questions of the Mii behind them, whereupon the Mii answers and waves them on. This continues until the player pokes the dreamer's back to make them fall. Concentration		In an old Japanese-style room, the dreaming Mii meditates beside another Mii who is holding a wooden rod. A random food appears in a thought bubble to the right of the dreaming Mii. After a few seconds, the other Mii notices the bubble and taps the dreamer with the rod, reprimanding them.	The food depicted in the dream
Come Back		The dreamer chases after a random food while calling out its name, and they can be tapped with the stylus to chase after it. This dream has three main variations: Every time the Mii gets closer to the food, it teleports further away, which can go until the food is as far away as it can be. As the Mii approaches the food, it dissolves, then reforms as the Mii runs past it. The Mii will continue running into the distance. Sometimes, the food will fail to reform, and the Mii will look towards the camera in disappointment. Rokurokubi		The dreamer sits near the bottom of the screen wearing a kimono. Their head can be dragged around with the stylus, causing their neck to lengthen while a high-pitched tone plays.	Kitsune udon

Staring		The dreamer is shown reading a newspaper in their apartment, with another Mii behind them staring. Periodically, the dreamer will turn around to look at them, but the other Mii will turn away. The dreamer asks why they're staring, but the other Mii denies anything is happening before both Miis return to their original positions.	Totem pole
Balance		The dreamer stands on a perch, and asks for the player's help. The player must guide a large finger to the Mii for them to climb onto, and bring them to another perch on the opposite side of the screen. Unbelievable		Inside the dreamer's apartment, a Mii tells the dreamer an outrageous secret. In response, the dreamer appears shocked and their face flies out of the apartment and into space, before coming back down and settling back on their head. The other Mii then admits to making it all up. Sometimes, the dreamer will not be shocked, instead telling the other Mii that everyone already knows the secret. Trap		This dream has three main varieties, all of which start with the dreamer falling into a hole on the touch screen: The Mii falls down the hole and does a flip in midair, landing on their feet. The Mii falls into the hole, but their body bounces out when they land, leaving their shocked face behind in midair inside the hole. Hiding		Three treasures are suspended from colored ropes in the dreamer's apartment, which can be pulled on via the touch screen to lift the treasures. A group of tiny Miis, including the dreamer, will try to hide behind the treasures, running to a different one if the one they are hiding behind is lifted. Drive		The dreamer takes the form of a bobble-head doll/hanging charm (depending on the version) on the dashboard of a car driving down a road, with two other Miis sitting in the front seats. Periodically, the driver will stop the car to make a comment or question to the Mii in the passenger seat. When the two finish talking, they will continue driving. By the third change, the dreamer's reflection is replaced with another Mii, and the dreamer turns to the camera in shock. The dreamer is looking in the mirror when another Mii appears to rise out of the floor behind them in the mirror. The dreamer looks behind them and shivers, but doesn't see anyone. When they turn back to the mirror, the Mii they saw is standing in front of the mirror waving at them, alarming the dreamer. The dreamer walks past the mirror and sees their reflection walking in the opposite direction. When they run back to check, their reflection falls over. SuperheroUS TransformEU		A miniature version of a random Mii dressed in a fairy costume alerts the dreaming Mii of some catastrophe, calling for the Mii's help. Sneeze		This dream has two variations: The dreaming Mii continuously sneezes, causing them to fall backwards each time and gradually pushing them to the other side of the screen. When they end up offscreen, they say "I wonder if I'm catching a cold..." before sneezing two more times. Royalty		The dreamer sits at a long table between six other Miis wearing curly-locks wigs. The Miis will ask questions concerning the status of the country or ruler of another Mii. The addressed will give a positive or neutral statement in response, often referring to them as "darling". All the Miis aside from the dreamer will then put a hand up to their face and laugh, before another Mii is addressed. Hide-and-Seek		This dream has two variations: The dreamer stands with their head against a tree in a park. Another Mii periodically pops out of various spots in the scenery, as the dreamer asks "Are you ready?" The hiding Mii always answers with "Not yet!" The dreamer stands in the same position, asking a group of Miis hiding in a tree "Are you ready?" The group hides in the tree's branches and simultaneously answer "Now we're ready!" Falling		This dream has three main variations, all involving the dreamer falling from the sky: The Mii runs while spinning as they fall, eventually swooping upward and offscreen. The Mii falls past many passing hamburgers (US and EU releases) or bananas (JP release), eventually landing on a giant hamburger or banana. Sometimes, the smaller foods are not present. Ninja		The dreamer sits in an old Japanese-style room, with a Mii dressed in a ninja outfit occasionally spying on them by flipping one of the wall panels. The third time this happens, the dreamer watches the wall until the ninja reappears. Trivia

• The Mii's lengthening neck in the "Rokurokubi" dream is likely meant to imitate the youkai Rokurokubi, which has a neck that can stretch to incredibly long lengths.
• The "Bungee Jump" dream is the only dream from Collection to make a reappearance in Life, but exclusively in the Korean version.
• The color of the Mii's hair when they transform in the "Superhero" dream determines their hero name and which phrase they say afterward.
• In the "Crazy Hair" dream, the dreaming Mii will appear with hair of whatever color it's set to, even if the Mii is currently bald.
• The paint in the "Factory Tour" dream can additionally be black or white in the Japanese version of the game.
• Spinach appearing in the European version of the "Workout/Muscles" dream to energize the Mii when they eat it is likely a reference to the Popeye cartoon.
• The title of the "Hermit Crab" dream refers to a different kind of animal than what is depicted in it; the Miis in the dream are dressed as snails, not hermit crabs.
