Matt is one of the CPU Miis and arguably one of the most recognizable of the official Nintendo Miis due to his status of both trainer and champion in Boxing and being the Sword Fighting champion as well, having a somewhat important role in both Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort.

As of the version 1.2.0 update, Matt is a hidden opponent in Nintendo Switch Sports. He can be fought by holding down and or and while selecting the Powerhouse difficulty in Chambara. This is a reference to him being the best player in the same sport back in Resort (when it was called Swordplay). His appearance has been updated on the Switch; now his skin is darker and some of his facial features have slightly different positions. In Nintendo Switch Sports, he wears the Official Gear (Purple) clothing. His in-game title is "Legend."
