StreetPass Mii Plaza is a piece of built-in software for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems that works in tandem with the Mii Maker.
Gameplay
StreetPass Mii Plaza's main focus is on the StreetPass functionality of the Nintendo 3DS. If two 3DS users tag each other, their Miis will appear in each other's plazas and can be used to progress further in the games included with the software. Miis will greet each other at the Plaza Gate, where tagged Miis will give a short greeting with their name, birthday, country of residence, and latest played game (if the tagged user allows it). If a user is tagged twice or more, upon greeting the player, their Mii will ask what the player thinks of them. The player can respond with "Fantastic!" or "Ok, I guess...", with the tagged Mii responding positively or negatively respectively. If the player thinks the tagged Mii is fantastic, this information will be delivered to the recipient if two ever tag again. After two Streetpass users tag each other, they cannot tag each other again until 8 hours pass.
The most beneficial way other StreetPass users should be tagged changes from game to game. Tagging multiple people at once is usually beneficial to progress through most games, such as in Ultimate Angler and Mii Force, where a higher number of tagged users at once gives the player significantly more playstyles to choose from compared to the single playstyle tagging a single user would give. Select games also add benefits for tagging the same person repeatedly, such as how Find Mii increases the damage heroes can deal if they were tagged multiple times, and Monster Manor benefitting the player by giving repeatedly tagged Miis a wider selection of floor pieces for the player to choose from.
Games
StreetPass Mii Plaza contains 14 unique games, each with their own plot. Upon starting the software for the first time, the player will begin with only two games; Find Mii and Puzzle Swap, but the player can choose to receive either Market Crashers or Slot Car Rivals for free. Find Mii II is unlocked after completing Find Mii twice, and will then become accessible from the same part of the plaza. The other games, including the one not chosen in the aforementioned free offer, are purchasable within the software from the Salesbunny. The games are categorized as follows:
Initial games (2011)
- Puzzle Swap
- Find Mii & Find Mii II (Find Mii II released with a System Update in December of the same year)
All three of these games were developed by Nintendo SPD, along with the software itself.
DLC wave 1 (2013)
- Mii Force, developed by Good-Feel
- Flower Town, developed by Grezzo
- Warrior's Way, developed by Spike Chunsoft
- Monster Manor, developed by Prope
DLC wave 2 (2015)
- Ultimate Angler, developed by Prope
- Battleground Z, developed by Good-Feel
DLC wave 3 (2016)
- Slot Car Rivals, developed by Good-Feel
- Market Crashers, developed by Good-Feel
- Feed Mii, developed by Prope
- Ninja Launcher, developed by Arzest
- Mii Trek, developed by Prope
These games were released in version 5.0 of the software, which was largely focused on providing a faster user experience. The games reflect this in being designed around shorter play sessions.
